Family Picnic

Last weekend we had our family picnic. This is my Maternal Grandma's side of the family. We were glad to have most of our relatives there, and even some first timers from back east! We had a great time as always!
We always have fun games and this year Craig and I won the eggs toss! Whoo hoo! We are always pretty good at that one for some reason! Here are two fabulous catches by both of us!

Getting ready for the balloon toss! We didn't get too far in this one!

Jake 6 Month Pictures

My friend Carrie took Jake's 6 month pictures. I loved all of them but here are a few of my favorite. The blanket was mine. I have my picture taken on this blanket when I was 6 months old! It was made by Jake's Great-Great- Aunt Mary.

The first picture is this new face he has been doing lately. It is so funny!

Thanks Carrie for the great photos once again!!

BEACH DAY!

I can't believe summer is almost over and we have only taken James to the beach once. It is more difficult with the baby now, but still...ONE time! We did attempt it a few times and just never made it there. We went one weekend to watch the huge waves, it took so long that is all we ended up doing. Well and we had Ruby's on the pier for dinner!

Then we went and got down there too late so we just went to the fun zone and James had his first corndog!!

So finally we got to the beach and Nonna and Grampy watched Jake for us!

James had a great time in the water as always!

Good thing we could shower him off at Nonna and Grampy's house!

Jake's stats!

Jake went to the Dr for his 6 month check up. Poor guy got 4 shots and an oral vaccine that he didn't like either. He weighed 18lbs. 12oz. and was 26 1/2 inches. He is in the 75th percentile for height and weight! I just checked his brother's stats at 6 months and James was FOUR lbs heavier and 2 inches longer!!! No wonder I had to get a cortisone shot!!

6 Months Old!

Friday Jake was 6 months old! Half a year has gone by! I can't believe it! Pretty soon I will be planning his first Birthday! Oh my! I know I always say that Jake is the smiliest little baby. And I just found out that smiliest is not even a "real" word! Anyhow, he still is the smiliest little baby, he will smile at anyone, and lights up the room when he does!I can't wait to see his personality come out more in these next six months!

I love when babies grab and play with their toes and he does it all the time! He loves his bumbo seat but all you Mom's out there that think they can't get out of this seat...THEY CAN!! Jake did it! Thank goodness he wasn't on the table like he is here!

We are having a bit of trouble with Jake and eating "real" food. He does NOT like it, doesn't want to have anything to do with it. I feel like I have tried everything. Tried the cereal first okay, so he doesn't like that...who would! Then I mix it with applesauce, what kid doesn't like applesauce?? So then I tried pears, didn't work. I thought that maybe those were too tart, so I tried sweet potatoes. Nope. Finally I tried bananas and we got a little bit in him. These are the pictures from the cereal with bananas. As you can see he doesn't look like he is enjoying it! Spits it right out!

Screams or moves his head away in disgust!

He has had two teeth come in though, so he is getting ready for food, we just have to figure out what he likes!

He isn't sitting up completely yet but he is very close. He can sit for about a minute and then just falls to one side.

He is also almost ready to crawl. I have said for the last month that I think he is going to crawl before he sits up! He is doing the whole rocking back and forth thing and has moved one knee! I know it will be any moment. I am on the fence about him crawling, I want him to crawl so badly so I don't have to hold him all the time, he wants to be held ALL the time. He is becomming quite the Mommy's boy. The separation anxiety has set in. Sometimes I can't even be in the same room with him and not hold him. But on the other hand I will have to watch him like a hawk crawling all around!

Jake is very inconsistent with his sleeping. Some nights he goes right to sleep all by himself in his crib. Then other nights it is a fight. He will just scream, which isn't ok when he and James are sharing a room, so one of us will have to rock him awhile to calm him down. Some nights he will sleep all night, meaning until about 6 or so, then back to sleep for another couple hours. Or some nights he will wake up three times a night! I just long for the day when I can get a full night sleep!

This past weekend we FINALLY took the bassinet down, even though Jake has been in his crib for three months now! It was a weird feeling though, not knowing what our future holds. Craig asked me if we were going to put it up on ebay... I told him not yet. A lot of people know whether or not they are going to have more kids or not, and it is just a weird feeling to not know. I guess it is better not knowing because if we aren't I might be a wreck, treasuring every last baby moment!

Family

Last weekend my Mom's brother from Washington and half of his children were here with their families. We had a BBQ at my Mom's and enjoyed the sun and the pool! It was great to see all of them, since we haven't seen my cousins in about 4 years! It was the first time for meeting some of their children and ours!

Just the beginning

I know this is just the beginning of Jake's torture he will endure through his lifetime by his brother, but my poor little baby! I had Jake in my room while I was getting dressed. I went into the boy's room to get their clothes and James was with me in the room. He walked out of the room and all of a sudden I hear Jake screaming. I didn't rush in because this is a daily occurrence that James did something Jake didn't like, for instance take his binky or a toy away from him. So I yell to James to stop. Jake is still screaming so I walk in to see what James is doing and he put a chip clip on Jake's nose!!! Awe, my poor baby. James was sent to time out for awhile for that one!
Hours later he still had a mark on his nose! (You may need to click on picture to really see the mark)

But he is still happy as a clam!

No Doubt Concert

Sunday night Brianna and I went to the No Doubt Concert with my friend Carrie and her friend Liz. This is Brianna's favorite singer, as is Carrie and Liz. So Brianna was really glad we went with them! We had a great time and can't wait to see them again in concert!
